Piccadilly Circus station on the Bakerloo Line is unusual in that, not only is it not built to traditional island platform layout, but you are able to see either northbound or southbound trains enter and depart the station at the northern end of either platforms, where there is also a crossover allowing southbound trains to reverse to the northbound track. This station was largely reconstructed in the 1920s, to cope with the heavy flow of passengers. The new station reopened on 10 December 1928, designed by Charles Holden. This station no longer has street level buildings with passengers descending the many subways of the circus to a sub-surface ticketing facilities. Here a train of 1972 Tube Stock has just off-loaded some passengers many of whom are tourists who will go to see the Eros statue and the large TV screens and lights. (Sunday 15 January 2017)
